Who wrote the original story collection The Jungle Book?

The story behind the answer

Rudyard Kipling wrote the original story collection The Jungle Book.

The collection was first published in 1894 and contains animal stories set mainly in India, including several about Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves. Other stories, such as “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” and “The White Seal,” focus on different animals and settings rather than Mowgli.

Kipling was born in Bombay, British India, in 1865, and his childhood experiences there influenced the landscapes, animals, and colonial-era settings in much of his writing. He later became one of the most widely read English-language authors of his period.

The Jungle Book is often treated as though it were a single continuous novel, but it is a collection of separate stories. Its characters and ideas have been adapted many times, especially in film and television, with substantial changes made by later creators.
