Who wrote and illustrated the main Yo-kai Watch manga?

The main Yo-kai Watch manga was written and illustrated by Noriyuki Konishi. It adapts Level-5’s franchise and follows Nathan “Nate” Adams, known as Keita “Keta” Amano in the Japanese version, after he obtains the Yo-kai Watch.

The watch lets Nate see supernatural beings that are normally invisible to humans. With the help of Whisper, a Yo-kai butler, Nate encounters creatures such as Jibanyan and becomes involved in comic supernatural problems around his town.

Konishi’s manga began serialization in Shogakukan’s CoroCoro Comic on December 15, 2012—more than five months before the first video game was released. It ran until April 21, 2023, and was collected in 23 volumes. The series was published in North America by Viz Media and in Singapore and other Southeast Asian markets by Shogakukan Asia.

Several other Yo-kai Watch manga exist, which explains the possible confusion. Chikako Mori, Santa Harukaze, and Atsushi Ohba worked on separate spin-off titles, but Konishi is credited with the main series.
