Who won the Purple Cap in the 2020 IPL season?

The story behind the answer

Kagiso Rabada won the Purple Cap in the 2020 IPL season. The Delhi Capitals fast bowler finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 30 wickets in 17 matches.

The 2020 competition was played in the United Arab Emirates after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the IPL out of India. Rabada was central to Delhi’s run to their first IPL final, using pace, accuracy and effective yorkers throughout the campaign. His best innings figures were 4 for 24.

Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal were also among the leading wicket-takers, which makes them plausible distractors. Bumrah took 27 wickets, Boult 25 and Chahal 21, but none matched Rabada’s total. The Purple Cap is awarded to the bowler who takes the most wickets in an IPL season.
