Which company was the IPL's title sponsor from 2008 to 2012?

The story behind the answer

DLF was the IPL's title sponsor from 2008 to 2012.

DLF, an Indian real-estate developer, held the league's first title-sponsorship deal when the IPL launched in 2008. The partnership gave the tournament the official title “DLF Indian Premier League” during its first five seasons and helped establish the commercial identity of the new competition.

DLF's agreement ended after the 2012 season. PepsiCo then became the title sponsor from 2013 through 2015, followed by Vivo, Dream11, and Tata in later periods. This timeline causes frequent mix-ups because Tata is the best-known recent sponsor, but it was not the original one.

The IPL was founded in 2007 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and began play in 2008. Its combination of franchise cricket, television exposure, and major sponsorship deals quickly made it one of the world's most commercially prominent domestic sports leagues.
