Answer
Tiger Woods
Answer
Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods won The Open at St Andrews in 2000.
The 129th Open Championship was played from 20 to 23 July 2000 on the Old Course at St Andrews, Scotland. Woods, aged 24, produced four remarkably controlled rounds of 67, 66, 67 and 69 to finish at 19 under par, eight strokes clear of Thomas Bjørn and Ernie Els, who tied for second.
The victory was Woods’s first Open Championship and his fourth major title. It also made him the fifth golfer to complete the career Grand Slam, winning the Masters, U.S. Open, Open Championship and PGA Championship. He became the youngest player to achieve that milestone, surpassing Jack Nicklaus’s previous age record.
This win was part of an extraordinary stretch in Woods’s career. He had already won the 2000 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach and later captured the 2000 PGA Championship before winning the 2001 Masters. That sequence gave him all four major titles simultaneously, a feat popularly known as the “Tiger Slam.”
