Bugha won the Fortnite World Cup Solo competition in New York in 2019.
American player Kyle Giersdorf, known competitively as Bugha, finished first in the solo final at Arthur Ashe Stadium on 28 July 2019. He scored 59 points across six matches, 26 points ahead of second-place Psalm.
Bugha received $3 million for the victory, one of the largest single prizes ever awarded to an esports player at that time. The Fortnite World Cup used an open online qualification system, allowing players around the world to compete for places in the finals.
The event had separate solo and duos competitions. Bugha’s result applies specifically to the solo tournament; the duos title went to Aqua and Nyhrox. That distinction matters because both finals were held at the same New York event and are often discussed together.
