Who won the first Junior TT on the Mountain Course in 1911?

Percy J. Evans won the first Junior TT held on the Mountain Course in 1911.

The 1911 Isle of Man TT was the first edition staged on the longer Mountain Course, then also described as the Four Inch Course. The Junior race took place on 30 June over four laps, covering approximately 150 miles.

Evans rode a 339cc, two-and-three-quarter-horsepower Humber. He finished in 3 hours 37 minutes 7 seconds at an average speed of 41.45 mph, beating Harry Collier on a Matchless. Evans also set the fastest lap of the Junior race, recording 53 minutes 24 seconds at 42.13 mph.

The event is easy to confuse with later Mountain Course milestones. The 1911 meeting introduced both the Mountain Course and the Senior TT, but Percy Evans—not Victor Surridge, Charlie Collier or Oliver Godfrey—won the first Junior contest there. Surridge was associated with a fatal practice accident before the races.
