Who were the four original members of the band Queen?

The four original members of Queen were Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor. Mercury was the lead vocalist and pianist, May played guitar, Deacon bass, and Taylor drums.

Queen grew out of the band Smile, formed by May and Taylor. Mercury joined in 1970, and Deacon became the fourth and final member in 1971. Although Deacon joined after the other three, this quartet is the canonical original Queen lineup.

The names Peter Deacon and Philip Taylor are incorrect; Paul McCartney was never a member of Queen.
