Who was the youngest winner of the Tour de France, taking the title in 1904?

The story behind the answer

Henri Cornet was the youngest winner of the Tour de France, taking the title in 1904 at age 19.

Cornet was born Henri Jardry and adopted the racing name Henri Cornet. He finished fifth in the 1904 Tour's original results, but the first four riders were later disqualified for violations including illegal assistance and parts of the route being covered by train or car. Cornet was consequently declared the winner.

His victory remains unusual because the result was settled after the race rather than at the finish. The 1904 Tour was also exceptionally chaotic, with crowd interference, damaged bicycles and widespread rule-breaking. It led organizers to impose more rigorous controls in later editions.

Cornet's age is often cited as 19 years and 11 months. The youngest winner record concerns age at victory, not the youngest rider ever to start the Tour or win an individual stage.
