Answer
Novak Djokovic
Who was the winner of the men's singles at the French Open in 2016? Novak Djokovic won the 2016 French Open men's singles title.
Djokovic defeated Andy Murray in the final at Roland-Garros, winning 3–6, 6–1, 6–2, 6–4. The victory completed his career Grand Slam: he had already won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open, but the French Open title had remained the missing major championship.
The achievement also made Djokovic the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four Grand Slam singles titles at the same time. Because the titles were won across four consecutive major tournaments, the achievement is often called a "non-calendar-year Grand Slam."
Djokovic's victory ended a long wait in Paris after three previous French Open final defeats. Rafael Nadal, the tournament's dominant champion, withdrew before the third round because of a wrist injury, while defending champion Stan Wawrinka was eliminated in the semifinals by Murray.
