Joe Alwyn was the third producer of Taylor Swift’s “august,” alongside Swift and Jack Antonoff.
The song’s credits list Swift, Antonoff, and Alwyn as producers. Alwyn used the songwriting pseudonym William Bowery for some Folklore and Evermore credits, but “august” specifically lists him by his name in the production credits.
Antonoff supplied the initial instrumental, while Swift developed the song’s vocal and lyrical narrative. Alwyn’s involvement belongs to the production team rather than the songwriting credit shown for the track.
A common mix-up is Aaron Dessner, who was one of Folklore’s most important collaborators and performed “august” with Swift and Antonoff at the Grammys. Dessner, however, is not the third producer credited on “august.”
