Who was the showrunner for Dexter season 5?

The story behind the answer

Chip Johannessen was the showrunner for Dexter season 5. He took over after Clyde Phillips, who had led the series through its first four seasons.

Johannessen joined Dexter after working on 24, becoming an executive producer alongside returning producers including Scott Buck, Manny Coto, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, and Michael C. Hall. His season ran from September 26 to December 12, 2010, and focused on Dexter helping Lumen Pierce pursue the men responsible for her trauma.

A common mix-up is Scott Buck, who was already an executive producer during season 5 but did not become showrunner until season 6. Clyde Phillips also remained connected to season 5 as a consultant, but he was no longer the showrunner. Johannessen’s tenure lasted one season; Scott Buck then led seasons 6 through 8.
