Who was the McDonald's advertising character known as Mayor McCheese?

Mayor McCheese was the McDonald's advertising character who served as the fictional mayor of McDonaldland.

The character had a human-like body and a large cheeseburger for a head, complete with bun, cheese, lettuce, and other familiar burger details. His formal mayoral clothing and exaggerated appearance made him instantly recognizable in television commercials, restaurant displays, and promotional materials.

Mayor McCheese belonged to McDonald's early-1970s fantasy world, alongside Ronald McDonald and other branded figures. His role gave McDonaldland a civic structure, with a mayor whose authority was used mainly for comic situations and interactions with the other characters.

He is sometimes confused with Officer Big Mac, another McDonaldland character whose head was shaped like a Big Mac. Mayor McCheese's defining feature was his cheeseburger head and his position as the community's mayor.
