Who was the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Cranberries?

Dolores O'Riordan was the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Cranberries.

Born in County Limerick, Ireland, O'Riordan joined the group in 1990, when it was still known as The Cranberry Saw Us. Her distinctive voice, Irish accent, and dramatic vocal phrasing became central to the band’s identity. The group changed its name to The Cranberries after she joined.

The Cranberries achieved international success with songs including “Linger,” “Zombie,” and “Dreams.” O'Riordan wrote or co-wrote many of the band’s best-known songs, including “Zombie,” which addressed the violence of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

She also released solo albums and collaborated with other musicians. O'Riordan died in London in January 2018 at age 46. The Cranberries’ final album, In the End, was released in 2019 and used vocals she had recorded before her death.
