Who was the lead singer for the Scorpions?

The story behind the answer

Klaus Meine has been the lead singer of the German rock band Scorpions.

Meine joined Scorpions in 1969, four years after guitarist Rudolf Schenker founded the group in Hanover. He became the band’s distinctive vocalist and one of its principal lyricists, helping shape its transition from German hard rock into an internationally successful arena act.

Meine’s voice is featured on major Scorpions songs including “Rock You Like a Hurricane,” “Still Loving You” and “Wind of Change.” He wrote the lyrics to “Wind of Change,” released in 1990 after the band’s performances in the Soviet Union and during the political changes surrounding the end of the Cold War.

The band has had other vocalists in its early history, including Rudolf Schenker on some early performances, which can create confusion. However, Meine is the long-term frontman and has appeared on every Scorpions album since joining the group. He is also one of only two members, alongside Schenker, to appear on every album.
