Who was the first member of the original Dixie Chicks band to leave the group?

The story behind the answer

Robin Lynn Macy was the first member of the original Dixie Chicks lineup to leave the group. Macy was a founding member alongside Laura Lynch and sisters Martie Erwin and Emily Erwin, who later became known as Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer.

The group formed in Dallas in 1989 and initially performed bluegrass and traditional country music. Macy shared guitar and vocal duties during the band's early years, including its first album, "Thank Heavens for Dale Evans." She departed in 1992, before Laura Lynch also left and Natalie Maines joined the Erwin sisters in 1995.

That later trio became the commercially successful Dixie Chicks associated with albums such as "Wide Open Spaces." Because Lynch was the original lead singer and is more frequently mentioned in accounts of the band's early history, some readers mistakenly identify her as the first departure. Chronologically, however, Macy left first.
