Kristaps Porzingis was unable to participate in the 2018 NBA All-Star Game because of a torn ACL in his left knee.

The New York Knicks forward had been selected to his first All-Star Game as an Eastern Conference reserve. On February 6, 2018, he suffered the injury during a game against the Milwaukee Bucks. The tear ended his 2017–18 season and ruled him out of the All-Star event in Los Angeles.

Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker was chosen to replace Porzingis on Team LeBron. This is a common mix-up: Walker was the injury replacement who played, while Porzingis was the originally selected All-Star who missed the game. Porzingis also withdrew from the Skills Challenge, where he had been the defending champion.

The injury required surgery and kept Porzingis out for the remainder of the season. He eventually returned to NBA action with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2019–20 season after being traded by New York.
