Who was named the first Overwatch League MVP in 2018?
Answer
JJoNak
Answer
JJoNak
JJoNak was named the first Overwatch League MVP in 2018.
South Korean player Bang “JJoNak” Sung-hyeon earned the award during the league’s inaugural season. He played support for the New York Excelsior and became especially famous for his aggressive use of Zenyatta, a support hero whose Orbs of Destruction could inflict heavy damage while providing healing and utility.
JJoNak’s style helped change expectations for the support role. Rather than playing only defensively, he frequently used positioning, aim, and damage output to pressure opponents. His performances helped New York Excelsior finish first in the regular-season standings, although the team did not win the inaugural championship.
The MVP award is separate from the league championship. The London Spitfire won the 2018 grand final, while JJoNak received the individual regular-season honor. He later became one of the best-known players associated with the early Overwatch League era, and the game’s developers added a JJoNak-inspired cosmetic item based on his signature playstyle.
