Joe Alwyn was credited as a co-producer of Taylor Swift’s “august” after Folklore won Album of the Year.
The album’s liner notes originally listed Swift and Jack Antonoff as the producers of “august.” After Folklore won Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy recognized Alwyn as a co-producer on the track. Alwyn worked on Folklore under the pseudonym William Bowery for songwriting credits elsewhere on the album.
Alwyn’s production credit is associated with the wider collaborative process that shaped Folklore during the pandemic. Swift worked remotely with collaborators, building songs from instrumental ideas and fictional narratives rather than following a conventional album rollout.
This credit can be confused with the writing credits for “betty,” where Alwyn is credited as a songwriter under the name William Bowery. On “august,” the notable distinction is his post-award co-producer recognition, while the songwriting credit belongs to Swift and Antonoff.
