Scarlet is the film’s principal antagonist: a glamorous, ambitious supervillain who wants to become Queen of England. Kevin, Stuart and Bob meet her at Villain-Con, where she recruits them as henchmen and sends them on a mission involving the Crown Jewels.

Bullock’s casting was a notable change of pace from her usual live-action roles, and the performance helped make Scarlet one of the franchise’s most recognizable villains. Jon Hamm voices her husband, Herb Overkill, an inventive scientist who supports her criminal schemes. Allison Janney also appears in the film, but she voices Madge Nelson, not Scarlet. Tina Fey and Kristen Wiig are likewise associated with other animated roles, which can make the options seem plausible, but neither voices Scarlet in Minions.
