Who voices Lucy Wilde in Despicable Me 2?

The story behind the answer

Kristen Wiig voices Lucy Wilde in Despicable Me 2.

Lucy is an agent of the Anti-Villain League who recruits Gru to investigate the theft of the PX-41 mutagen. She is assigned to work undercover with him at a shopping mall, where they pose as employees of neighboring businesses while searching for the culprit.

Wiig had already appeared in the first Despicable Me film as Miss Hattie, the strict orphanage owner who sends Gru’s adopted daughters out to sell cookies. In the sequel, she plays a completely different character: Lucy is energetic, highly capable, and ultimately becomes Gru’s romantic partner. Lucy and Gru marry by the end of the film.

The casting can cause confusion because several major comedians are associated with the franchise. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are not Lucy’s voice, while Sandra Bullock voices Scarlet Overkill in the 2015 spin-off Minions. Wiig also returned as Lucy in later Despicable Me films.
