Randall Boggs is the Monsters, Inc. rival to Sulley and Mike voiced by Steve Buscemi.

Randall is a purple, reptile-like monster with a chameleon-style ability to change color and blend into his surroundings. At Monsters, Inc., he competes with James P. “Sulley” Sullivan to collect the most screams and resents Sulley’s status as the company’s top scarer.

Randall’s rivalry becomes part of the film’s central conflict when he works with CEO Henry J. Waternoose on the Scream Extractor scheme. The machine is intended to take screams from human children, whose supposed toxicity is one of the monster world’s major fears.

Randall is also important in the prequel Monsters University, where he begins as Mike Wazowski’s friend and roommate. Their relationship deteriorates after Randall joins the elite Roar Omega Roar fraternity and becomes more competitive. Fungus is Randall’s assistant, not the rival himself, and Waternoose is the company executive involved in the larger conspiracy.
