Who voiced the character of Crush the sea turtle in Finding Nemo?
Answer
Andrew Stanton
Answer
Andrew Stanton
Andrew Stanton voiced Crush, the laid-back sea turtle in Finding Nemo.
Stanton was not primarily hired as a voice actor. He was the film's director and one of its writers, and he recorded Crush's dialogue during the story-reel stage while Pixar developed the movie. The temporary performance worked so well that it became the character's final voice.
Crush is an adult green sea turtle who helps Marlin and Dory navigate the East Australian Current. His relaxed surfer-style speech and friendly attitude made him one of the film's most recognizable supporting characters. Stanton also returned as Crush in Finding Dory.
Viewers sometimes confuse Stanton's role with those of Pixar colleagues who voiced other characters. Joe Ranft voiced Jacques, Bob Peterson voiced Mr. Ray, and John Ratzenberger voiced the school of moonfish. Stanton's voice is also distinct from the actors who played the film's central fish characters, including Albert Brooks as Marlin and Ellen DeGeneres as Dory.
