Who voiced the adult Simba in the 2019 CGI remake?

Donald Glover voiced the adult Simba in the 2019 CGI remake of The Lion King.

Glover portrays Simba after the character has grown from a cub into the adult lion who must return to the Pride Lands. JD McCrary voices young Simba, creating the film’s child-to-adult vocal transition. Glover also sings on the remake’s soundtrack, including a new recording of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” with Beyoncé as Nala.

The casting was announced in February 2017, before production was completed. Director Jon Favreau assembled a predominantly Black principal cast, including Beyoncé as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and John Kani as Rafiki. James Earl Jones returned as Mufasa from the 1994 animated film.

Matthew Broderick voiced Simba in the original 1994 animation, so he is an understandable mix-up. Bradley Cooper was not the adult Simba, and John Kani voiced Rafiki in the remake. The 2019 production is often called live-action, but its animal characters were created through photorealistic computer animation.
