Who voiced Miguel in the English version of Coco?

The story behind the answer

Anthony Gonzalez voiced Miguel in the English version of Coco.

Gonzalez was a young performer when he was cast as Miguel Rivera, the 12-year-old aspiring musician at the center of the film. Miguel’s English voice combines youthful vulnerability with the confidence needed for musical performances, especially as he tries to prove that music belongs in his family’s future.

Coco was Gonzalez’s major breakthrough. He performed Miguel’s singing as well as his dialogue, including the Oscar-winning song “Remember Me,” which was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The role required more than ordinary voice acting because Miguel’s emotional journey is expressed through rehearsals, family arguments, and live performances.

The other choices are also associated with Coco, which can cause confusion. Benjamin Bratt voiced Ernesto de la Cruz, Gael García Bernal voiced Héctor, and Edward James Olmos voiced Chicharrón. None of them played Miguel in the English-language cast.
