Coco won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature in 2018. The award was presented on January 7, 2018, at the 75th Golden Globe Awards, honoring films released during 2017.
The Pixar film competed against The Boss Baby, The Breadwinner, Ferdinand, and Loving Vincent. Its win added to a major awards season for Coco, which was praised for its animation, music, emotional story, and Mexican cultural setting.
The ceremony date can cause confusion because Coco is a 2017 film, while the Golden Globe ceremony occurred in the following calendar year. In awards coverage, the prize may also be called Best Motion Picture—Animated or Best Animated Feature Film, reflecting variations in the Golden Globes' category naming.
Coco later won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 90th Oscars in March 2018, along with Best Original Song for “Remember Me.”
