María Cecilia Botero voiced Abuela Alma Madrigal in Encanto. Alma is Mirabel’s grandmother and the matriarch of the Madrigal family, whose magical home and gifts are tied to a miracle that began after a devastating loss.

Botero is a Colombian actress and television performer, and her casting helped give the film’s largely Hispanic and Latino voice cast a strong Colombian presence. In the English-language version, Botero provides Alma’s spoken voice, while Olga Merediz performs Abuela’s singing voice. Botero also reprised Alma for the Spanish dub, with Yaneth Waldman supplying the singing voice in that version.
