Who scored the NHL's fastest hat trick, completed in 21 seconds in 1952?

The story behind the answer

Bill Mosienko scored the NHL's fastest hat trick, completing three goals in 21 seconds in 1952.

Mosienko set the record for the Chicago Black Hawks against the New York Rangers on March 23, 1952, at Madison Square Garden. His three goals came in the third period, and teammate Gus Bodnar assisted on all three. Chicago won the game 7–4.

The 21-second mark has stood as the NHL's fastest hat trick. A hat trick means one player scores three goals in a game, while a natural hat trick means all three goals come from that player without another team's goal intervening. Mosienko's achievement is generally described as a natural hat trick.

Mosienko spent his entire 14-season NHL career with Chicago. He was known for exceptional speed and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1965. The record is easy to confuse with the fastest three goals by one team, which is a different statistic.
