Cole Palmer scored Chelsea’s winning goal in their 3–2 derby victory over Fulham in Matchweek 1 of 2026–27.
Palmer scored Chelsea’s third goal early in the second half at Craven Cottage. Chelsea eventually won 3–2, giving new manager Xabi Alonso a victory in his first Premier League match in charge of the club.
João Pedro opened the scoring for Chelsea after just 31 seconds and later assisted Palmer’s goal. Morgan Rogers also scored for Chelsea, while Fulham replied through Josh King and Gonzalo García.
Palmer was voted Player of the Matchweek after producing one goal and one assist. The result was a west London derby, but it was played at Fulham’s home ground rather than at Stamford Bridge.
