Cole Palmer scored Chelsea’s winning goal against Fulham on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Palmer struck in the 49th minute at Craven Cottage on Monday 24 August 2026. His goal gave Chelsea a 3–1 lead and ultimately proved decisive in a 3–2 victory over Fulham.
Chelsea had taken the lead through João Pedro after only 31 seconds. Fulham equalised through Josh King, and Morgan Rogers restored Chelsea’s advantage before Palmer added the third. Gonzalo García later scored for Fulham, but Chelsea held on.
The derby was also significant for the two managers. Xabi Alonso began his Chelsea tenure with a win, while Álvaro Arbeloa’s first top-flight match in charge of Fulham ended in defeat. Palmer was later voted Player of the Matchweek by fans.
