Kai Havertz scored Arsenal’s first goal of the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend. He opened the scoring against Coventry City during Arsenal’s 3–0 victory at Emirates Stadium on 21 August 2026.
Havertz’s goal gave the defending champions an early advantage in the season opener. Bukayo Saka then scored Arsenal’s second goal before half-time, while captain Martin Ødegaard completed the scoring after the break.
The sequence matters because Saka and Ødegaard were also among Arsenal’s scorers, making it easy to misremember which player scored first. Havertz was the earliest scorer for Arsenal in the opening match and the first Arsenal player to register a league goal in the new campaign.
Coventry City had returned to the Premier League after a long absence, but Arsenal’s early attacking pressure prevented the visitors from settling. The clean-sheet victory gave Arsenal an immediate three-point start.
