Who sang lead vocals for Men At Work?

The story behind the answer

Colin Hay sang lead vocals for Men at Work.

Hay was the Australian band's frontman, lead vocalist and guitarist, and he remained its only constant member. Men at Work formed in Melbourne in 1979 after Hay and guitarist Ron Strykert expanded an acoustic duo into a full group with drummer Jerry Speiser, multi-instrumentalist Greg Ham and bassist John Rees.

Hay's voice leads the band's best-known songs, including "Down Under," "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Overkill." He also wrote or co-wrote much of the band's material, helping shape its blend of new wave, pop rock and reggae influences. Men at Work's debut album, Business as Usual, became an international success in the early 1980s.

Greg Ham occasionally sang lead on individual tracks, which can cause confusion, but Hay was the group's principal lead singer and public frontman. After the band's original run ended, Hay continued performing as a solo artist and later participated in Men at Work reunions and touring lineups.
