Who released the country song "Broken Halos"?

Chris Stapleton released the country song "Broken Halos." He co-wrote it with Mike Henderson and recorded it for his second studio album, "From A Room: Volume 1," released in 2017.

Stapleton has said the song was inspired by people who had died before their time; he recorded it shortly after the death of a longtime friend. Its lyrics consider grief, human suffering and the possibility of healing, giving the song a reflective quality beneath its restrained country-rock arrangement.

The song was released as a promotional track in April 2017 and sent to country radio in July. It became Stapleton's first number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The recording also crossed stylistic boundaries: critics have described it as country rock, folk rock, Southern gospel and country gospel.

"Broken Halos" won Best Country Song at the 60th Grammy Awards, as well as Single of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2018 Country Music Association Awards.
