Who recorded the hit single "Sussudio" in 1985?

The story behind the answer

Who recorded the hit single "Sussudio" in 1985? Phil Collins recorded it. The song was released as the lead single from his third solo album, No Jacket Required, and became one of his signature recordings.

"Sussudio" was released in the United Kingdom on January 14, 1985, and later became a major American hit. Its distinctive sound combines programmed drums, synthesizers, a prominent horn section, and Collins's energetic vocal. The title is not a real word: Collins invented the nonsense name during a rehearsal and ultimately kept it because no replacement sounded as effective.

The track reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in July 1985. It is sometimes remembered mainly as an MTV-era pop song, but its polished funk and dance-pop arrangement also reflects Collins's work as a drummer and producer. Hugh Padgham co-produced the recording, continuing the successful partnership behind several of Collins's biggest songs.
