Taylor Swift received the Dick Clark Award for Excellence at the 2014 American Music Awards.
The award was presented by Diana Ross during the 42nd American Music Awards ceremony on November 23, 2014, at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles. Swift was among the evening’s central figures, and the honor recognized her achievements and artistic impact at that stage of her career.
The Dick Clark Award for Excellence is not the same as the Artist of the Year trophy or the separate Award of Merit. The naming pays tribute to Dick Clark, the television producer and longtime creator and host associated with the AMAs. Swift’s 2014 recognition also sits within a larger AMA story: she later became the ceremony’s all-time leading award winner, while Diana Ross had received the AMA’s prestigious Award of Merit in 2012.
