Who provided the English voice of Doc Hudson in Pixar's original Cars?
Answer
Paul Newman
Answer
Paul Newman
Paul Newman provided the English voice of Doc Hudson in Pixar's original Cars.
Doc Hudson is a 1951 Hudson Hornet and the respected medical doctor of Radiator Springs. He initially hides his past as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet, a three-time Piston Cup champion, after a career-ending crash and the racing world’s loss of interest in him.
Newman was a celebrated actor and an accomplished racing enthusiast. His real-world interest in motorsport added resonance to his role as Doc, whose knowledge of racing is deeper than Lightning McQueen first realizes.
Cars was Newman’s final voice-acting role in a feature film. He died in 2008, so Doc Hudson does not appear as a speaking character in Cars 2. The character’s legacy remains important in Cars 3, where McQueen recalls Doc’s guidance and racing philosophy.
