Who produced Taylor Swift’s “august”?

Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff, and Joe Alwyn produced Taylor Swift’s “august.”

Swift and Antonoff are the song’s principal creative collaborators, while Alwyn is also credited as a producer. Alwyn worked under the pseudonym William Bowery on Folklore-related songwriting credits, but the “august” production listing identifies him by his own name.

This credit is easy to mix up with Aaron Dessner’s role on Folklore. Dessner produced many songs on the album and co-wrote several with Swift, but he is not listed among the producers of “august.”

The production combines dream-pop textures, guitar, soft-rock elements, keyboards, strings, and dense reverb. That layered sound supports the song’s fictional account of a brief summer relationship and contributes to its recurring end-of-summer appeal.
