Milo Ventimiglia plays Jess Mariano on Gilmore Girls.

Jess is Luke Danes's rebellious nephew, sent to live in Stars Hollow after his mother can no longer manage him. He is intelligent, sarcastic, deeply interested in books, and often resistant to authority. His arrival creates tension with Luke and changes Rory's romantic storyline.

Jess and Rory develop a relationship based partly on their shared love of reading and writing. Their connection is complicated by Jess's impulsive behavior and difficulty communicating. Later appearances show him becoming more focused and pursuing a career connected to publishing.

Ventimiglia is sometimes confused with Jared Padalecki, who plays Rory's first boyfriend Dean Forester, or Matt Czuchry, who plays Logan Huntzberger. Ventimiglia later became widely known for roles in Heroes and This Is Us.
