Who played the role of Uncle Junior?

Dominic Chianese played Uncle Junior, whose full name is Corrado John Soprano Jr., in The Sopranos. Junior is Tony Soprano’s uncle and the older brother of Tony’s father, Johnny Boy Soprano.

Junior begins the series as an influential elder in the DiMeo crime family and eventually becomes its official boss. Tony, however, secretly runs much of the organization while allowing Junior to attract law-enforcement attention as a front boss. This arrangement creates one of the show’s central family and power conflicts.

Chianese brought Junior a mixture of bitterness, pride, humor, and vulnerability. The character’s later decline into dementia becomes one of the series’ most tragic arcs, particularly after Junior mistakenly shoots Tony while believing him to be an old enemy.

Steve Schirripa played Bobby Baccalieri, Michael Imperioli played Christopher Moltisanti, and Tony Sirico played Paulie Gualtieri. None of those actors played Uncle Junior.
