Who played Harry Potter in the film series based on J.K. Rowling’s novels?

The story behind the answer

Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter in the film series based on J.K. Rowling’s novels.

Radcliffe first portrayed Harry in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, released in 2001, and continued through all eight films. The final story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was divided into two movies, released in 2010 and 2011.

The role made Radcliffe internationally famous while he was still a child. Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley and Emma Watson played Hermione Granger, forming the central screen trio. The films were produced by Warner Bros. and filmed mainly in the United Kingdom.

Radcliffe later worked extensively in theatre, television and film outside the wizarding franchise. He has performed on Broadway and in London productions, including the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The actor is therefore closely associated with Harry Potter, but his career includes many projects beyond the character.
