Who played Dignan in Wes Anderson’s Bottle Rocket?

Owen Wilson played Dignan in Wes Anderson’s Bottle Rocket.

Dignan is an enthusiastic but poorly prepared aspiring criminal who organizes a 75-year plan involving his friends Anthony and Bob. Wilson’s performance gives the character a mixture of confidence, loyalty, and comic self-deception. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Anderson.

Bottle Rocket was the first feature film directed by Anderson and the first major film collaboration among Anderson and the Wilson brothers. Luke Wilson plays Anthony, Dignan’s recently released friend, while Robert Musgrave plays Bob Mapplethorpe, the group’s driver.

The role is sometimes confused with Luke Wilson’s because both brothers star prominently in the film. Owen Wilson is Dignan, the character whose elaborate criminal plan drives the story and whose name is central to the original short and feature versions.
