Which actor played Sam Shakusky in Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom?

Jared Gilman played Sam Shakusky in Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom.

Sam is a Khaki Scout who runs away with Suzy Bishop after the pair form a correspondence and decide to leave their homes together. Gilman’s performance gives Sam a formal, resourceful, and emotionally vulnerable personality, contrasting with the adults’ increasingly anxious response to the disappearance.

Moonrise Kingdom was released in 2012 and is set on a fictional New England island in 1965. Kara Hayward played Suzy, while the adult cast included Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, and Tilda Swinton. The film marked the feature debuts of both Gilman and Hayward, who were selected after an extensive casting process.
