Who played Daisy Buchanan in the 2013 film adaptation? Carey Mulligan played Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 film The Great Gatsby.

Mulligan’s Daisy is the romantic center of the story: Gatsby’s former love, Tom Buchanan’s wife, and Nick Carraway’s cousin. Her reunion with Gatsby drives much of the film’s emotional conflict, especially as Gatsby tries to recreate their past while Daisy remains constrained by wealth, marriage, and social expectations.

Luhrmann cast Mulligan after auditions in late 2010. Her performance helped distinguish this version from earlier adaptations, including the 1974 film in which Mia Farrow played Daisy. The 2013 production paired Mulligan with Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby and Tobey Maguire as narrator Nick Carraway.

A common mix-up is Isla Fisher, who appears in the same film as Myrtle Wilson, Tom’s mistress. Elizabeth Debicki also appears, but she plays Jordan Baker, Daisy’s friend—not Daisy herself.
