Who photographed Georgia O'Keeffe in a famous series of portraits?

The story behind the answer

Alfred Stieglitz photographed Georgia O'Keeffe in a famous series of portraits.

Stieglitz, a major American photographer and gallery owner, began exhibiting O'Keeffe's work in 1916. He also made hundreds of photographs of her between 1917 and 1937, documenting changes in her appearance and presenting her as an important modern artist.

Their artistic and personal relationship became central to both biographies. They married in 1924, and Stieglitz promoted O'Keeffe through exhibitions at his New York galleries, including the Intimate Gallery and An American Place.

The photographs were not simply private snapshots. Many were exhibited publicly, and the series helped shape how audiences viewed O'Keeffe. His portraits should not be confused with photographs by Paul Strand or Edward Steichen, other prominent figures in modern photography.
