Who performs the song “Real Gone” in Pixar's Cars?

Sheryl Crow performs “Real Gone” in Pixar's Cars.

The song plays during the film's opening sequence, accompanying Lightning McQueen's introduction and the energetic presentation of the Piston Cup racing world. Its rock-and-country feel matches the movie's American road and motorsport themes.

“Real Gone” was written by Sheryl Crow and John Shanks. Crow's recording appears on the Cars soundtrack alongside songs by artists including Rascal Flatts, Brad Paisley, and James Taylor.

Randy Newman composed the film's original score and wrote several songs associated with the Cars world, which can cause confusion about the performer of “Real Gone.” The track is not the same as “Our Town,” the Randy Newman song heard later in the film.
