Jay-Z performed with Beyoncé on the 2003 single “Crazy in Love.”
The song was released as the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. It combines Beyoncé’s vocal performance with a guest rap from Jay-Z, whose verse helped make the collaboration one of the defining pop and hip-hop records of the early 2000s.
“Crazy in Love” was written by Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rich Harrison, and Eugene Record. Its prominent horn sample comes from the Chi-Lites’ 1970 song “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So),” which Harrison adapted into the track’s instantly recognizable opening.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé later married in 2008, but their personal relationship should not obscure the song’s specific credit: Jay-Z is the featured performer on “Crazy in Love.” Other rappers collaborated with Beyoncé on later singles, but they are not the answer here.
