Pink performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Super Bowl LII. She sang the U.S. national anthem before the February 4, 2018, game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
The performance was especially notable because Pink had flu symptoms shortly beforehand. She later explained that she had been ill while preparing for the event, yet still performed live in front of one of the largest television audiences in the United States. Viewers also noticed her briefly spit something out before singing; she clarified that it was a throat lozenge, not chewing gum.
Pink’s appearance was part of the pregame entertainment, not the halftime show. Justin Timberlake headlined the halftime performance, while Leslie Odom Jr. sang “America the Beautiful.” The Eagles went on to defeat the Patriots 41–33, winning the franchise’s first Super Bowl championship.
