Who kills Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter books?

The story behind the answer

Molly Weasley kills Bellatrix Lestrange during the Battle of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Bellatrix is a powerful Death Eater and one of Lord Voldemort’s most fanatical followers. During the battle, she attacks Ginny Weasley, prompting Molly to step between Bellatrix and her daughter. Molly’s famous challenge begins with the words, “Not my daughter, you bitch!” before the duel intensifies.

Molly defeats Bellatrix with a curse that strikes her in the chest. Bellatrix’s death ends the threat she poses to the Weasley family and reflects Molly’s transformation from a protective mother into a determined combatant.

The scene is sometimes misremembered as a duel between Bellatrix and Ginny alone. Ginny is involved in the confrontation, but Molly is the character who ultimately kills Bellatrix. Voldemort is later defeated by Harry in the same battle.
