Who kills Ana Lucia Cortez in the television series Lost?

Michael Dawson kills Ana Lucia Cortez in the television series Lost. He shoots her inside the Swan station during the second season while she is preparing to confront Henry Gale.

Michael has secretly made a deal with the Others to recover his son, Walt. Under pressure from the Others, he gives them information about the survivors and ultimately acts against Ana Lucia and Libby Smith, who are both killed in the same sequence of events.

The killings become a major turning point for Michael, whose actions damage the survivors’ trust and reveal how far he will go to find Walt. Ana Lucia had previously led the tail-section survivors and joined the main group after the two survivor communities met. Her death is therefore also a major leadership change.
