Who is the town selectman in Stars Hollow?

The town selectman in Stars Hollow is Taylor Doose.

Played by Michael Winters, Taylor is one of Stars Hollow’s most recognizable civic figures. He owns Doose’s Market and Taylor’s Old-Fashioned Soda Shoppe, organizes town events, and frequently presides over meetings at Miss Patty’s dance studio. His strict interpretation of rules often puts him at odds with Luke Danes, Lorelai Gilmore, and other residents.

A common mix-up comes from Jackson Belleville’s brief political detour. Jackson defeats Taylor in a selectman election during the fifth season, but quickly resigns after discovering that the job involves more bureaucracy than he expected. Taylor then returns to the role and remains the town’s defining political presence for most of the series.

The other choices are also Stars Hollow residents: Michel Gerard works at the Dragonfly Inn, Jackson is the town’s produce supplier, and Kirk Gleason holds an astonishing number of odd jobs. None is the long-term answer to this question.
